Dating back to the fifth century B.C., the Greek physician Hippocrates, considered the father of western medicine, described the medical benefits of anointing and massage. The Greek term Anatripis meaning friction or rubbing, brought about a physiological understanding of massage and wellness, introducing the idea of massaging towards the heart to help regulate the circulatory system. Native shamans practiced massage as an intent to ward off illness in the form of bad spirits. Whether you are seeking massage for physical, psychological or spiritual reasons the body-mind connection in undeniable.

Massage influences nearly every body system!!

Our nervous system includes the sympathetic and parasympathetic. Our sympathetic nervous system is caught in the fight or flight pattern due to stress and excess cortisol levels. Massage Therapy induces the parasympathetic nervous system to restore balance by increasing dopamine, serotonin, nonadrenaline, oxytocin and endorphins. Massage balances the chemical soup of our Endocrine system helping to not only reduce stress and pain, but it aids in the reduction of symptoms associated with depression, ADD, hyperactivity, and addiction.

Massage brings relief to neuromuscular pain; chronic holding patterns can begin to unwind in just a few sessions by working trigger points, muscle, and fascia. Massage has been successful in reducing the symptoms associated with acute and chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, headaches and much more. The increase in lymphatic and cardiovascular circulation helps to rid the body of excess toxins, expediting the healing process and restoring homeostasis. As our breath deepens, we take in more oxygen which decreases our cortisol and adrenaline triggering the relaxation response. The skin is the largest organ of body, assimilating a myriad of healing benefits through the use of only organic and medical grade essential oils. Each session includes Aromatherapy using the highest grade essential oils, Young Living.

We use only the highest grade essential oils, Young Living. We also include the use of the BioMat, a heating pad designed to restore balance and detoxify using infrared technology: http://www.bio-mats.com/estonewellness
